Information we collect
Account information: name, email address and phone number when you sign up through our sign-in provider (Clerk). Homeowners: job details, photos you upload and messages with contractors. Contractors: trades, service area (ZIP code and radius), years in business, business name, and the license, insurance and certification details you choose to provide, plus your profile bio. We also record basic usage events, such as a job being posted or a bid being sent, to understand how the product is used.
How we use it
To run the marketplace: creating accounts, showing jobs to contractors in the right area, delivering bids and messages, reviewing contractor profiles, preventing fraud and improving the product. We may contact you about your account, your jobs or important product changes.
What we never do
We never sell your personal information. We never share your email or phone number with third parties for marketing.
Who we share it with
Only the services that run HandyHome: Clerk (sign-in), Supabase (database and file storage) and Vercel (hosting). Contractor profile details you make public, such as name, trades, service area, bio and reviews, are visible to people browsing HandyHome.
Retention and your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data or for it to be deleted at any time by contacting us. We may keep records we need for disputes or legal compliance after an account is deleted.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password and keep your sign-in details private.
Children
HandyHome is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will post the new version here and update the date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
