Terms of Service

By using HandyHome you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
Draft. These terms are a working draft pending attorney review. Last updated October 2026.

The service

HandyHome is a marketplace where homeowners post home-service jobs and independent contractors submit bids. We are a venue, not a party to the work. The agreement for the work itself is between the homeowner and the contractor. We provide job posting, bidding, messaging and a profile review of contractors.

Homeowner terms

Posting a job is free during the Atlanta pilot. After the pilot, posting will cost $1 per job, with notice before any charge begins. You may receive bids and choose any, one or none of them; there is no obligation to hire. Job descriptions must be accurate and lawful.

Contractor terms

HandyHome is free for contractors during launch, with no subscription, bid fees or per-lead fees. If we introduce contractor pricing later, we will announce it in advance, before any charge begins. You agree that the information in your profile and application is true and that you will keep it current. Misrepresentation is grounds for removal.

HandyCheck

Before a contractor profile goes live, a member of our team reviews it by hand: trade and skills, service area and business details. HandyCheck is a profile review at a point in time. It is not a background check, license verification or insurance verification, and it is not a guarantee of work quality. Homeowners should confirm any license or insurance their project requires.

Payments

Homeowners pay contractors directly, using whatever method they agree on. HandyHome does not hold, process or escrow payments for jobs, and cannot reverse or refund a payment made between a homeowner and a contractor.

Disputes

If a job goes wrong, either party can report it to us. We will review the job post, bid, messages and photos and help mediate a fair outcome. We may remove contractors or homeowners from the platform for no-shows, poor conduct or a pattern of complaints. Because we do not hold payments, mediation is our main tool. See the Safety page for details.

Reviews

Reviews must reflect real completed jobs. Fake, paid or retaliatory reviews may be removed, and accounts that manipulate reviews may be suspended.

Prohibited conduct

No fraud, no misrepresentation of identity or credentials, no harassment or discrimination, and no unlawful content or work. Violations may result in suspension or removal. See the Community guidelines.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HandyHome is not liable for the quality, safety, timeliness or legality of work performed by contractors, or for payments between homeowners and contractors. Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes

We may update these terms. We will tell you about material changes by email or in the product. Continued use after a change takes effect means you accept it.
