When something goes wrong
Start by messaging the contractor in your job thread; most problems are misunderstandings. If that doesn’t resolve it, raise it with us by email. During the Atlanta pilot, a person on our team handles every dispute by hand.
How to raise a problem
Email us with “Dispute” and your job title in the subject line:
What to include
- The job: its title, the date you posted it and your city or ZIP code
- The contractor’s name, and your name as it appears on your account
- What happened, and what outcome you’re hoping for
- Photos of the work or the problem
- Any messages or agreements that matter, such as the bid, the agreed price or start date (screenshots are fine)
What happens next
We’ll reply within 2 business days. We review the job post, the bid, your messages and the photos you send, and we may contact the contractor for their side.
HandyHome mediates: we help both sides reach a fair outcome, such as the contractor returning to fix the work or a partial refund you agree on together. Contractors who no-show or have a pattern of poor work or payment disputes are removed from HandyHome.
Payment is between you and the contractor
You pay your contractor directly. HandyHome never holds, processes or escrows job payments, so we can’t reverse a payment or force a refund.
